Boo 2: A Madea Halloween

Run Time: 1 hr 41 min
Rating: PG-13
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 8%/58%

Boo 2: A Madea Halloween is the sequel to the extremely successful (financially speaking) Boo: A Madea Halloween which took an estimated $20,000,000 to make but grossed $73,159,525 domestically (wtf!). This sequel picks up with Tiffany (Diamond White) the spoiled, mischievous, pain in the ass teenage daughter of Brian (Tyler Perry) who, once again, wants to go to a party but is not allowed to (insert eye roll). And much like it’s predecessor, in this film Tiffany creates a plan to sneak away to a frat party and Madea attempts to foil this plan and a series of hilarious hi-jinks ensue….

The Good:

Lexy Panterra was fairly enjoyable as “turn up queen” Leah, she did good for what she was given in terms of a script. There was one scene where I chuckled a bit…that’s about it

The Bad:

*sigh* Where do I begin? This movie was AWFUL!!!! It is almost as if immediately after the filming of Boo! Tyler Perry said, “f$%* it! let’s just film a sequel while we’re here!” The same shitty acting performances that we were given in the first movie were just as crappy in this sequel! Diamond White either is a terrible actor in general or she understands the level of acting a film like this requires and she gives the bare minimum; either way, her performance was sub par at best. Tyler Perry as Madea was absolutely cringe worthy! It almost seemed like Tyler was bored with the character himself and was just going with the motions and the formula that his target audience has grown accustomed to. The story line (if that’s what we want to call it) was so predictable that it was borderline offensive.

*****************************SPOILER ALERT***********************************

It was obvious that Brian and the other dad were behind all the “scares” that happened at Camp Derry. So knowing that was how this story would play out made the scenes of them choking people, coming up from underneath water with a chainsaw, chasing teens through the woods and dragging them away absolutely RIDICULOUS!

Tyler Perry’s other character, Joe, was so uncomfortably vulgar to the point that I wished I could have just grabbed a remote and turned this damn movie off! And while we’re at it, every single joke in this movie bombed! Literally, every line was something that has been said 1,000 times in other Madea films and showed that no one cared to add any originality to this film what so ever! Oh! And how could I forget the awful dubbed scenes where they clearly had to go back and voice over cuss words that would have changed this movie rating from PG-13 to R.  I just have a hard time seeing this movie as anything other than a cash cow for Tyler Perry to bank on and use the money to fund his larger budget productions.

Overall Rating:

I think it is clear how I feel about this movie, Boo 2: A Madea Halloween is straight up boo boo! Please take this Sista Gurl’s advice and do not waste your hard earned coin on this mess! I am all for supporting Black Films and Filmmakers, but when movies like this are made and it is clear that the intent is only to make money, not to truly entertain the audience or fans, then I will bash that shit! I was so tired of my intelligence being insulted that I walked out of this movie before it even ended! Everything from the film quality, acting, plot, and even music choices were horrible and that is truly what would classify this movie as a horror comedy in my book!
